This painting was created as the focal point for the "Women in the Arts" Celebration at the Abaco Inn on Elbow Cay on November 24, 2018. This was one of the first shots I took with my Olympus TOUGH underwater camera when I first got it. That image has been bouncing around in my head for a while..... I was very glad to get it out of my head and on a 60 inch canvas!

Sabine and I took our sunfish sailboats to Cracker Peas the other day to meet the hubbies and grab lunch. Then we sailed back to our respective homes, where I washed "Lizzy" down and good and left her to dry at the dock. She's a great boat with a great history, and pretty beautiful sails IMHO. A real sweetheart! This boat was a contestant in the Sunfish World Championships in Nassau in 2009 which is the reason for the beautiful yellow, blue and black colors as well as the island motif which is a trademark of the Bahamas. She’s been owned by two friends of mine, and once a honeybee colony was discovered in her cockpit when the cover was removed. Her name is Lizzy due to a gecko that hitched a ride on the boat during a Hope Town sailing race. So, now you know the whole story. Original is available, contact Kim for pricing.

Here's a quote (and the story) from the photographer of this terrific composition, Keith Salvesen of Rolling Harbour, Abaco: "Kim Rody, well-known artist has kindly chosen to use my photo of a group of Abaco sanderlings on the beach at Delphi as the basis for a gorgeous painting (still a work in progress). So pleased these sweet little shorebirds have become a work of art..." For info regarding the 36" X 48" original, please contact the artist.

Here's a very special request from a very special client o' mine. He liked the lobster with a bottle of Kalik (After the Dive), but wanted to add a HINT of SOPHISTICATION, thus we decided to switch to a fine bottle o' Miraval (delightful summer rose wine!). Since I had FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE with this wine (made a visit over there to Brad and Angie's place last summer), it was sooo much fun to paint! And, we got to eat and drink the subject matter afterward! Goes to show you some of my best ideas come from my clients!!!

The best thing about ordering a couple of these is that you get my PERSONAL RECIPE for making a kick-ass appetizer if you are in a neighborhood where you can get fresh lobster! It is quick and easy and outrageously impressive when you want to show off to your dinner guests. I usually serve one Lobster-cargot per couple as an app.

I asked for help in naming this convict tang painting on facebook and got a lot of great ideas. One kept coming up - "Lost in Tangs" however there seemed to be a problem. Twenty three years ago I painted "Lost In Tangs" (click to see it) in my painting class with Kathy Windrow at Eastfield Community College. It was about 30" X 40" on birchwood from Home Depot. A woman down the street bought it and hung it in her living room in Rockwall, Texas. But everyone loved that name for the painting. So I pulled an image of the first one (from 1998 or 1999) up my website, and remembered why I named it that. So... I had to add a little lost fish!!! I love swimming with the tangs. They let you zoom around with them, like you are one of the gang. And sometimes there are MASSES of them. 36" X 48" original has been SOLD. Please contact the artist for Original Price List of paintings still available.

Remember that song from when you were a kid? It was playing over and over in my head so I googled it and found Bing Crosby! Click here to hear the song and sing along.
And yes, I have always rather been a fish!
I started this painting YEARS ago - it sat in my Bahamas studio and made it through Dorian. I guess you could say this took me five years to paint. But I finally finished it! -

I commuted all summer from "Cloud Nine" on the North End to the boat basin and drove the Albury to Fry's Fish Camp construction site every day. On that road, every day, a beautiful Royal Poinciana tree bloomed and bloomed and made my daily walk a pleasure. Original IS available. Contact the artist, please.

The Abaco Rage. What a beauty, and those that sail her the BOMB! Why don't I just let Bradley Albury, Editor-in-Chief at the Abaconian, tell you all about it! Click here! My Facebook Peeps at Kim Rody Art (click and like, hint hint) helped me decide to keep or ditch the impending, following storm. I posted with or without on Facebook, and 99% of SIXTY EIGHT COMMENTS (so far!) said keep the storm for story and drama. So now, in addition to being "out front" of competition...... A portion of all sales will benefit the Abaco Rage Sailing Syndicate
